“Forming your conscience”

(taken from morethings.com)

Recently, my darling wife has been stuck in her design mode of trying to create a silk purse out of the sow’s ear with her patio furniture and potted plants. She has great taste for comfortable chairs, and a marvelous selection of flowers and ivy. However, her daily occupation has been to change what she arranged the day before. Again and over again. I am neutral, but began to think, something is wrong here.

My prayer for her, along with the thousand other individuals, has produced the title for today’s post. When I Googled the short phrase, the offerings seemed only to be Catholic teaching. I read this out loud and concluded easily the principle here can apply with Vivian, but also with our country, politics, party platforms, and presumptive candidate at large.(adw.org)

And speaking openly about the biased media reports lately, no one has any answer closer than this than our Catholic Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan. I Just heard him say on MSNBC, he would recommend that every citizen vote according to his conscience. Of course, he has learned the meaning of our conscience, being Catholic. But we don’t have this yet.

“1776, Deep within his conscience, man discovers a law which he has not laid upon himself but which he must obey. Its voice, ever calling to love and to do what is good and to avoid evil, sounds in his heart at the right moment … for man has in his heart a law inscribed by God … his conscience is man’s most secret core and his sanctuary. There he is alone with God whose voice echoes in his depths.” (www.vatican.va)

“1783, Concience must be informed and moral judgment enlightened. A well-formed conscience is upright and truthful. It formulates its judgments according to reason, in conformity with the true good willed by the wisdom of the Creator. The education of conscience is indispensable for human beings who are subjected to negative influences and tempted by sin to prefer his own judgment and to reject authoritative teaching.”

“1800, A human being must always obey the certain judgment of his conscience. And 1802, The Word of God is a light for our path. We must assimilate it in faith and prayer and put it in practice. This is how moral conscience is formed.”

Fr. Kenneth Baker in his work for Fundamentals of Catholicism (Ignatius Press, 1983), tells us; “A person may think he is justified in perpetuating an act of terrorism, he might even be sincere. But that doesn’t make terror and murder good. Today, due to philosophical currents of subjectivism and relativism, many persons tend to absolutize the individual conscience. . .

“They neglect the objective principles of morality and claim that an action is good or bad simply because they think it is good or bad. Some of the results of this mentality are a breakdown in public morality, increased violence in the streets, premarital sex, shoplifting, and so forth. . .

“We should cultivate not only a good moral conscience, but also a Christian conscience — which is something much more. In addition to reason, we have the added advantage of grace — personal grace, revelation, the teaching of the Church and good examples of the saints.

“We should learn to judge all things in the light of salvation offered to us in Jesus Christ. He is the model and examplar, for He is the Way and the Truth and the Life.”

We can know in our conscience (heart of hearts), that we will come to positive solutions. Whether with my wife’s patio, porch designs, the presidential conventions, laws for moderate gun-control measures, immigration or terrorism, our consciences being properly formed not by social media, cable networks, but family, Church and proper allegiances.

I am being shown to live according to my conscience. I hope this post is helpful for you too. Even if it does take a lifetime to form our conscience, knowing it can be done, that our Savior, his Mother, and all the saints will help us; and the increased years of living to do this, is far worth all our efforts. But that’s not all!

I am now consoled that my wife is in this lifetime process, right along with me. And all we are doing over and over again is more than recreation. It is only our consciences striving for the perfection we were created to achieve. How we will vote come November, is another matter. But I now believe the collective conscience of our party will be well formed by then.

May the Lord bless and keep you,

Expanded Daily Prayer for Freedom

A mystical still life captured of our home’s Entry by Vivian

“Why a long version? Over the years we have come to learn a great deal about prayer and spiritual warfare. Frankly, the prayers of our youth have not proved sufficient for the trials of a more mature believer advancing the Kingdom of God. This longer version reflects the kind of prayer needed in times of intense ministry or times of great pressure and attack. Frankly, it just has more firepower. Try it—you’ll see.” Said author and pastor John Eldredge. (Scripture footnotes added, with “crucifix” and “queen mother and bride” authority included for catholic (universal) theology.)

“My dear Lord Jesus, I come to You now to be restored[1] in You, renewed in You, to receive from You all the grace and mercy I so desperately need this day. I honor You as my Sovereign, and I surrender every aspect and dimension of my life totally and completely to You. I give to You my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I cover myself with Your blood[2]—my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I ask Holy Spirit to restore me in You, renew me in You, and lead me in this time of prayer. In all that I now pray, I stand in absolute agreement with Your Spirit and with my intercessors and allies, by Your Spirit and by Your Spirit alone.

“Dearest God, holy and victorious Trinity, You alone are worthy of all my worship, my heart’s devotion, all my praise, all my trust, and all the glory of my life. I love You, I worship You, I give myself over to You in my heart’s search for life. You alone are Life, and You have become my life. I renounce all other gods, every idol, and I give to You the place in my heart and in my life that You truly deserve. This is all about You, God, and not about me; You are the Hero of this story, and I belong to You. I ask Your forgiveness for my every sin. I renounce my sins. I ask You to search me and know me and reveal to me where You are working in my life and grant to me the grace of your healing, deliverance, your holiness, and a deep and true repentance.

“Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and choosing me before You made the world[3]. You are my true Father—my creator, redeemer, sustainer, and the true end of all things, including my life. I love You, I trust You, I worship You. I give myself over to You, Father, to be one with You in everything as Jesus is one with You. Thank You for proving Your love by sending Your only Son Jesus to be my substitute and representative[4], to be my Rock. I receive Him and all His life and all His work which You ordained for me[5]. Thank You for including me in Christ[6], for forgiving me my sins[7], for granting me His righteousness[8], for making me complete in Him[9].

“Thank you for making me alive with Christ[10], raising me with Him[11], seating me with Him at your right hand[12], establishing me in His authority[13], and anointing me with Your love[14], Your Spirit, and Your kingdom (His Queen Mother and His Bride). I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I bring the life and work of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, throughout my earthly kingdom, domain and ministry.

“Jesus, thank You for coming to ransom me with Your own life[15], I love you, I worship You, I give myself over to You to be one with You in all things—spirit, soul, and body, heart, mind, and will. I sincerely embrace[16] You as my redemption, and all the work and triumph in Your cross, death, blood[17], and sacrifice (Crucifix), through which my every sin is atoned for, I am ransomed and delivered from the kingdom of darkness and transferred to Your Kingdom of light, my sin nature is removed[18], my heart is circumcised unto God[19], and every claim being made against me is disarmed[20] this day.

“I now take my place in Your stripes, death, and cross (Crucifix), dying with You to sin, to my flesh[21], to this world[22], to the evil one[23], and his evil kingdom. I take up the Crucifix and crucify my flesh with all its pride, arrogance, unbelief, and idolatry [and anything else you are currently struggling with]. I put off the old man[24]. Apply to me all the work in Your cross, death, blood, and sacrifice (Crucifix). I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.

“I bring the blood and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, my vehicles, finances, over all my kingdom, domain and ministry. I bring the cross, death, blood, and sacrifice (Crucifix) of Jesus Christ against Satan, against his evil kingdom, against every foul and unclean (demonic) spirit, every foul power and black art, against every witch, and against every human being and their godless spirit, their warfare and household. I bring the cross, death, blood, and sacrifice (Crucifix) of the Lord Jesus Christ to the borders of my kingdom, domain, and ministry, and I stake it there in the name of Jesus Christ.

“Crucifix” with sign saying in Latin, JESUS OF NAZARETH KING OF THE JEWS

“Jesus, I also sincerely receive You as my Life[25], and I receive all the work and triumph in Your resurrection, through which You have conquered sin, death, judgment, and the evil one. Death has no power over You, nor does any foul thing. And I have been raised with You to a new life, to live Your life—dead to sin and alive to God[26]. I am crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me[27].

I take my place now in Your resurrection and in Your life[28], and I give my life to You to live Your life. I am saved by Your life. I reign in life through Your life[29]. I now put on the new man[30] in all holiness and humility! in all righteousness, purity and truth. Christ is now my life[31], the One who strengthens me[32]. I receive Your hope, love, faith, joy, Your goodness, trueness, wisdom, power, and strength. Holy Spirit apply to me all the work and triumph of the resurrection of Jesus Christ for me. I receive it with thanks and I give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.

“I bring the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, my vehicles, finances, over all my kingdom, domain and ministry. I bring the resurrection and the empty tomb of Jesus Christ against Satan[33], against his evil kingdom, against every foul and unclean (demonic) spirit, every foul power and black art, against every witch, and against every human being and their godless spirit, their warfare, and household. I bring the resurrection and the empty tomb of the Lord Jesus Christ to the borders of my kingdom, domain, and ministry; I stake it there in Jesus’ name.

“Jesus, I also sincerely receive You as my authority, ruler, and dominion, my everlasting victory against Satan and his evil kingdom, and my ability to bring Your Kingdom (sacraments) at all times and in every way. I receive all the work and triumph in Your ascension, through which Satan has been judged and cast down[33], his evil rulers principalities disarmed[34]; and all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to You, Jesus[35]. And I have been given fullness in You the head over all[36]; You are worthy to receive all glory and honor, power and dominion, now and forever.

“I take my place now in Your authority and in Your throne, through which I have been raised with You to the right hand of the Father and established in Your authority[37]. Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world[38]. Christ has given me power and authority to overcome the enemy, and I claim that authority, now, standing in place over, above, and against every enemy, and I banish them in the name of Jesus Christ[39]. I give myself to You, to reign with You always. Apply to me all the work and triumph in Your authority and Your throne; I receive it with thanks, and I give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.

“I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, my vehicles, finances, over all my kingdom, domain and ministry. I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ against Satan, against his evil kingdom, against every foul and unclean (demonic) spirit—every ruler, power, authority, and spiritual force of wickedness, their every weapon, claim, and device.

“[At this point, I specifically name all foul and unclean (demonic) spirits that I know have been attacking me, such as fear, doubt, accident, injury, death, the religious spirit, pride, arrogance, slothfulness, gluttony, and greed, etc.]

“I send all foul and unclean (demonic) spirits bound to the throne of Christ, together with every back-up and replacement, every weapon, claim, and device—by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His name. I command the judgment of the Lord Jesus Christ upon the heads of those that refuse to obey, and I send them to judgment; by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, His Queen Mother, and His Bride, and in His name.

“I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ against every foul power and black art—every hex, vex, and incantation, every spell, weave, web, veil, shroud, charm, and snare; against every ritual, sacrifice, and device; against every vow, dedication, and sacrifice, every word, judgment, and curse—written, spoken, unspoken, or transferred to me. I command them disarmed and broken by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, His Queen Mother, and His Bride, and in His name.

“I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ against every witch, cult, and coven, every channel of black arts to me. I cut them off in the name of the Lord; I send the glory of God to them to turn them in Jesus’ name.

“I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ between me and every human being—their godless spirit, soul, body, their sin, warfare, and their household. I bring the full work of Christ between me and [now I name people I’ve counseled or prayed for, family members, folks in crisis looking to me, etc.]. I command their human spirits bound back to their bodies and their warfare bound to the throne of Christ in their life. I bring the full work of Christ between me and my household and all people; in the authority of Jesus Christ, His Queen Mother and His Bride, and in His name.

“Holy Spirit, thank you for coming for me today. I love You, I worship You, I trust You. I honor You as Lord.  I sincerely embrace You, become my union with the Father and the Son, the Spirit of Truth in me, the life of God in me, my Counselor, Comforter, Strength, Helper and Guide[40]. You have clothed me with power from on high, sealed me in Christ[41]. Restore my union with the Father and the Son. Lead me into all truth, anoint me for all of my life and walk and calling, and lead me deeper into Jesus today[42]. I honor You as Lord, and I fully give to You every aspect and dimension of my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will—to be filled with You, to walk in step with You in all things[43]. I receive all the work and triumph in Pentecost[44] through which You have come. Fill me afresh, blessed Holy Spirit. I receive You with thanks, and give You total claim to my life.

“Heavenly Father, thank you for granting to me every spiritual blessing of the heavenlies in Christ Jesus[45]. I claim the riches in Christ Jesus over my life today, over my home, my family, my work, over all of my kingdom and domain. I bring the blood of Christ once more over my spirit, soul, and body, over my heart, mind, and will. I put on the full armor of God: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel, helmet of salvation; I take up the shield of faith and sword of the Spirit, and I choose to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of Your might[46], to pray at all times in the Spirit.

“Jesus, thank you for Your angels. I summon them in the name of Jesus Christ and instruct them to destroy all that is raised against me, to establish Your Kingdom, Queen Mother and Your Bride; to rebuild the shields and hedges of protection around me and my household, and to minister to me Your ministry[47]. I ask you to send forth Your Spirit to raise up prayer and intercession for me[48]. I now call forth the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ throughout my home, my household, my kingdom, domain and ministry, in the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, with all wisdom and power, worship and glory, honor and riches, praise and dominion, and blessing and thanks be to Him; for ever and ever and ever, amen and amen.

CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH: Trusting God to give this.

Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest California

“Dear Father God, I come before You with a grateful heart for the many blessing that You bestow on us day by day, and praise You that Your mercies are new every morning and You have provided for all our needs – and more besides. You are a great and generous God..
You are so good to all Your creation and have faithfully supplied all our needs, according to Your riches and grace – just as You have promised.

I love that hymn where it says, “count your blessings, see what God has done,” and Father I do count the many blessings that come from You day by day. Please forgive me for the times when I taken for granted the many gifts and graces that come from You – I could not draw another breath unless You give me the strength and yet moment by moment I am being kept in Your love and sustained by Your grace.. Praise Your glorious name, for ever and ever,

Monday we heard our doctor say, “You’re good to go Charles!” This was the answer to the above prayer, which came to me from my Twitter follower @rick_warrens. He is one church leader worth following, who can get God on your case.

My wife and I were pleased to hear this, because we suffered with acute sinusitis for over 7-months. My stuffy nose was troublesome for both of us. I couldn’t sleep, always snorting and blowing the nose. But it was infected because of my failure.

We both believe God is a good God and worthy of our conscious acceptance as always acting on our behalf, to keep us from harm, truly. But we know there are the devil and his demons that can infect our lives with sickness and disease. We are only human.

Another teacher, Art Matthias teaches that all sickness is caused by an evil or wicked spirit. Yes! And that is consistent with Deuteronomy 28, where the law (Torah), gives a name of every disease and a license for dark spirits to attack any disobedient believers. (www.akwellspring.com) [BibleGateway.com]

But our faith in God through his only begotten Son Jesus (Yeshua) represents a new and better covenant, which improves upon the law, by providing grace and truth. Our Christian faith is able to grant a sinless existence by obeying Christ (Messiah).

Please let me explain. Our godly existence is maintained by prayer. Self prayer and prayer for others. The above prayer was sent to me  by a staff member in Rick Warren’s church-office. I needed that. (We all need that.)

His online church is growing. I have increased my prayer list to include many pastors, rabbis, priests, sisters, evangelists, bishops, cardinals, and popes, but pastor Rick is the only one God has appointed to send a prayer for me.

Then what do I claim as a fault I should have avoided? Three things: My immune system was weak. I was fasting to lose weight. And I was unprotected from ingesting the dust of tree spores and fungus while raking and bagging leaves.

Such conditions seem common, but they opened the door for an evil sickness or infection that happened to me. How it happened was when I sneezed bending over to tie my boots–it came up and out my nose! (Always hold your nose when sneezing.)

Here is my summary. As Christian believers, we are to learn and teach and grow in our faith. Get in the Holy Spirit, and stay there. Check your motives for doing anything for God. To please God is foremost in thinking, praying, and speaking. God loves you!

I let my motives slip, taking God’s hearing my prayers for granted. He does hear them, except when not actively trusting him to hear my prayer. I heard how to fast from a church source, but neglected supporting my immune system. My blood was enemic.

My faith in Christ (Messiah) does not discount my responsibility to take necessary measures to maintain a good diet and moderate exercize. The best way to stay healthy is to pray, pray for others, and hear God’s voice: ‘Obedience is better than sacrifice.’ (1Samuel 15:22,23 (MSG)

May the Lord richly bless you dearly beloved.

‘THE FORCE BE WITH YOU’ -The theology of awakening forces

‘THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!’ The Theology of ‘Awakening Forces’

Can you imagine? . . .

Wikipedia license for poster photo: “Fair use, to provide commentary on the film, not for illustration solely.”

. . . How Disney Company paid George Lucas 4.05 Billion dollars for the Star Wars franchise to produce this film? And not only that, Lucas promises to donate the whole amount to education! (We won’t even think about the profit from this venture for Disney.)

Why would this charity happen? Because of the need, his ability, and because his dream of dying in the director’s chair on a movie set had changed. Now George Lucas wants to be remembered as a great father. (From the CBS This Morning interview with Charlie Rose, today, 12-15-15.)

With such a godly human goal, I admire such an extreme example of human accomplishment, but this also increases my resolve to see the resulting genius of the current Star Wars movie. If not this week, soon; we all plan to be there!

Even our son, who died from cancer in February, made his last words to his daughter, ‘May the Force be with you’. I can say this because I know our son is in heaven with God. And heaven is the Bible’s great theme.

[According to our recent prophetic teaching, the second heaven is where evil forces dwell. If you don’t believe this, Please go to my post in theology401 about the prophetic conference at Church of His Presence.]
Church quote about education: “The purpose of education is to find and build the truth.” — Bishop Fulton Sheen (Who is being processed for sainthood). CBS This Morning reported that George Lucas received the Kennedy Center Honor for his life-contribution to entertainment.

Our anticipation is extreme enough to just buy the tickets and sleep until the showtime! But we should consider what deeper themes and influences exist in the plot. The mystery is still revealed without dark spells to capture open minds and hearts: It is a wholesome adventure!

To confirm this, I found Jonathan Petersen’s interview for BibleGateway.com, of author Paul Kent about his book called ‘The Real Force’ to describe the relationship of our God with Christian movie themes in this 40-day devotional to include,

Action-packed inspiring devotions that skillfully reveal the deep biblical ideals represented by the characters of the epic Star Wars saga. Each devotion discusses a scene or character from the Star Wars universe, relates it to a contemporary life challenge, and connects it with relevant scripture.” (Amazon.com)

Also, for the book, ‘The Gospel according to Star Wars’, 2007, I found John McDowell’s work is described, “Star Wars is one of the most beloved movie series of all time, and in this book John McDowell explores the many spiritual themes that weave throughout the six films. From the Force to the dark side, the issues discussed in the films have a moral and spiritual complexity that, if paid attention to, can help us better understand our place in the world and our relation to others and to God. George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, did not intend for his films to be mere entertainment, McDowell argues. Rather, he hoped his films would be used as a vehicle for moral education.” (book.google.com)

Also, to a Time Magazine columnist, George Lucas explained, “Star Wars is taking all the issues that religion represents and distills them down to more modern and accessible construct. . .I put the Force in the movie to try to awaken spirituality in young people: To be more a belief in God than a certain religion, so young people can learn to ask questions about the mystery.

In a Washington Post article, ‘How Star Wars answers our biggest religious questions – A new mythology for a new age’, Lucas stated, “I tried to create a mythology to provide moral guidance within the context of a renewed sense of spirituality and transcendence.”

And again, in Philosophy and religion in Star Wars (Wikipedia) “The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.” Obi-wan Kenobi said. [Alec Guiness, Episode IV, A New Hope]

George Lucas should be commended in his desire to inspire people to wrestle with such issues. This is a movie rich in theology and deep in philosophical ideas that are sure to generate some profitable discussions. C.S. Lewis, J.R. Tolkien, and Fydor Dostoevsky, in their classical fiction writings, presented answers to life’s questions from a theistic worldview. In Star Wars, Lucas has accomplished a similar classic work presenting answers to life’s questions from a pantheistic worldview. For this reason Star Wars is a fun movie that is full of theological ideas.” (Taken from: ‘The world-view of Star Wars – A Christian Evaluation by Dr. Patrick Zukeran, probe.org)

Concluding, I need to confirm that a story theme has some theological value. I believe when we are all reunited in heaven, the third heaven (above the second): There, we will see, feel, smell, hear and touch the Victorious King and His heavenly reality that now we can only read, dream and discern spiritually about.

If you just read what Dr. Zukeran said in his quote here, then there are many forces to awaken in your personal life. Go for the Gold. Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha-Mashiach) is the only Force that represents reality. Ask questions. Find Truth. Love the movie, but put it in true context. 🙂

(More to come after seeing the film).

See you there!

[PS. I just watched the J.J. Abram’s, produced and directed movie, “Star Trek Into Darkness” from 2013, on TV. There are so many special effects and plots twisting and turns, that I stopped even wanting to keep up. (Thank goodness for the commercials) That’s another good example for your J.J. Abram’s, epic movie for Disney and our viewing this week.]

[Caution: If you are excitable, panic easily in crowds like my wife, and want a peaceful viewing, avoid the opening night hustle and bustle. The enemy is the author of confusion, and plays on your fear, stress, and anxiety. Wisdom says wait until the Lord gracefully shows you the time.]
