Holy Wind

(Stained glass image taken from an apse of the St Peter’s Basilica by Gian Lorenzo Bernini circa 1660, Wikipedia)

Last night I feel like I was given a treat. The Fox Movie Channel was showing GRAVITY back to back. Have you seen it? It’s the full length cinema staring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney that I had not seen. What a marvelous story!

What can such a film and our study of prayer have to do with that? Well, without giving away anything of the plot, let me just say, Science Specialist Dr. Ryan Stone, admitted she never was told how to pray, but when back, she whispered, Thank you!

According to theologian Rudolf Bultmann, “There are two ways to think about the Holy Spirit: ‘animistic’ and ‘dynamistic’. In animistic thinking, it is ‘an independent agent, a personal power which like a demon can fall upon a man and take possession of him, enabling him or compelling him to perform manifestations of power’ while in dynamistic thought it ‘appears as an impersonal force which fills a man or woman like a fluid’. Both kinds of thought appear in Jewish and Christian scripture, but animistic is more typical of the Old Testament whereas dynamistic is more common in the New Testament. The distinction coincides with the Holy Spirit as either a temporary or permanent gift. In the Old Testament and Jewish thought, it is primarily temporary with a specific situation or task in mind, whereas in the Christian concept the gift resides in man permanently.”(From ‘Jesus and the Word’, London, 1952)

Prayer then, is sincere Holy-Spirit conscience giving place and showing detracting or revealing thoughts that draw or repell awareness of His presence. We learn by practice. And eventually we catch on. Our space capsule is the Church.

OVERCOMING IMPOSSIBLE DEMANDS – Youth granted wisdom to be saved. (8-26-16)

Imagine, we are alone somewhere orbiting the earth, in the Russian Soyuz capsule, going 17,000 MPH, some 250 miles up. Having had only 2 weeks training with reentry, and are about to panic. A simple whisper about never learning prayer brought help.

TEAM PRAYER – Social media church. (8-31-16)

The lost mission commander, George Clooney, appeared at the hatch, tapping to come in. He is allowed in with nonchalant instructions that comforted as well as motivated.  As if an angelic visitation, he is gone. The mystery enables the glorious climax.

ETERNAL REST‘ – Video. (9-19-16)

She swims to the shore, kisses the mud, says Thank you, and slowly stands up. Oh, the wonderful firmament of earth’s gravity! Having been even months without it, the mere effort of standing up is a struggle — we get this, but she prayed! (Thank You)

WORLDVIEW TWEEK – Our nation’s future depends on this. (10-2-16)

After the movie, the news media had to wow me with its stupid sexual allegations . . . and now our helpmate called a meeting about the family plans for Thanksgiving, which thankfully won’t include us. And that is a worldview tweek we are okay with.

CONTEMPLATING AMERICA – How to pray for America. (10-10-16)

Fall weather is stimulating. It’s quiet, it’s cool, and the stress from neighbors is relaxed (with leaves all over the bad looking grass, the yard is peaceful). Our focus is on spring cleaning — the fall weather is permitting us to so struggle gently here.

I have given the national news a break. Only our loving Father can be trusted. All our prayers prayed, we can now trust heaven to come down. All of the above titles represent the most recent posts from my other, older website. Prayer is the theme.

How can we ultimately discern the truth? Only Jesus said how. He, himself is Truth. And his word is true Covenant. Can we learn the truth? Yes, by dedicating ourself to him and his agency, the Church. The Church, having both Scriptures and tradition, is the believer’s authority. (Jn 14:6; Is 46:19; 65:16; Jn 5:39, 40)

Prayer then, is sincere Holy-Spirit conscience giving place and showing detracting or revealing thoughts that draw or repell awareness of God’s presence. We learn by practice. And eventually we catch on. Our space capsule is the Church . . . put yourself in Dr. Ryan Stone’s place. (This may be easier for some, if not all.)

But relate to God in even the most distant way . . . he is still right there for you. Just greet him. Your heart will catch his present closeness . . . stop denying him. Accept Him and seek his benefits for you: love, joy, peace is yours in him. Just believe, just trust. You can have his personal revelation even now.

My New Catholic Friend: Dolls from heaven on Twitter

CATHOLIC STORY – All girl-children are dolls from heaven
“I am Teresa!” (From website http://www.dollsfromheaven.com)

This week I received a new follower with Twitter. It struck a cord in my heart and I followed back. The main reason is that I highly respect the Catholic Church. The discipline of love and devotion far exceeds my family, and I thought had it good.

I grew up in a Catholic town. I have never thought of it that way, but you can’t deny it. The town is named after the mission of St. Anselm that was established before California achieved statehood. And, of course the town is, San Anselmo.

My sister and I were given permission to visit all of the neighborhood churches we thought we wanted to. Several of our close neighbors were Catholic, so we favored attending Saint Anselm’s Catholic Church. We were not allowed to join any church.

We had no idea why our parents would not take us, and our close playmates were happy to let us be, but we did learn some things. Like how strict the school was. They all wore the same uniform. They had to go to confession, and to mass…and catechism.

Our family lost its religious heritage when our great grand father came to California from Germany in 1858. It was a long and difficult journey, but they survived along with their prized grape cuttings. That was the beginning of the winery in Sonoma. (gunbun.org)

I grew up as unbaptized Protestant, but was never told our family was Jewish. Great grandfather (in-law) was named Jacob (Y’akov) who had a shofar (horn, trumpet) which my dad gave me, but could not tell me what it was.

God’s plan for us is really yet to be revealed. Our lives have been lived, and our grandchildren grew up much the same way. As the first-born, I was found by another family in the American-military community overseas, and my mother’s influence got me willing to be saved and baptized in an English-speaking Baptist church in Japan.

[I have three daughters, one step daughter, one son, and two step sons] The oldest daughter was baptized in the same church eleven years later when she was five. (The others received their faith and baptism eventually.)

Today I am praying for all our family to hear and receive the Gospel (Good News). Just last month a grand nephew received confirmation in a Lutheran church: A very hopeful sign. My prayer for all our children relies totally upon God. I know his will. We can trust Him! And only God can unite our church.

(Portrait of St. Teresa of Avila by Francois Gerard)

“It is love alone that gives worth to all things.” She said.

Teresa born March 28, (also my birthdate) 1515, lived 67 years and died on the very last night of the Julian Calendar, October 4th, when the first day of the Gregorian Calendar began, October 15th. [Ten days went away with her!]

[Now, ten days have past (at least since writing the last paragraph). I have been suffering from chronic sinusitis, and am finally getting some relief with a Christian otolaryngologist (ENT), and his targeted medications. Praise God for his mercy.]

Researching St. Teresa of Avila (Spanish), and St. Therese of Lisieux (French), both contemplative discalced Carmelite nuns, and their books show material that girl-children need to see, and which is already available with the purchase of a Doll from Heaven. (see YouTube link) And there has been a decline of nuns and priests in global society. (@telegraphworld)

“You must believe more in God’s love than your own weakness.” Mother Teresa

“One day Léonie, thinking no doubt that she was too big to play with dolls, brought us a basket filled with clothes, pretty pieces of stuff, and other trifles on which her doll was laid: “Here, dears,” she said, “choose whatever you like.” Céline looked at it, and took a woollen ball. After thinking about it for a minute, I put out my hand saying: “I choose everything,” and I carried off both doll and basket without more ado.

This childish incident was a forecast, so to speak, of my whole life. Later on, when the way of perfection was opened out before me, I realised that in order to become a Saint one must suffer much, always seek the most perfect path, and forget oneself. I also understood that there are many degrees of holiness, that each soul is free to respond to the calls of Our Lord, to do much or little for His Love—in a word, to choose amongst the sacrifices He asks. And then also, as in the days of my childhood, I cried out: “My God, I choose everything, I will not be a Saint by halves, I am not afraid of suffering for Thee, I only fear one thing, and that is to do my own will. Accept the offering of my will, for I choose all that Thou willest.” (Excerpt from online edition by Gutenberg.org)

I am watching Catholic TV (EWTN) where I am hearing true teaching (confirmed to me) that I have never heard. One of the first things I heard as a young Christian youth leader, was why anyone can believe the pre-mid-post tribulation rapture:

To which my first pastor, with a ThM degree from Southwest Baptist Seminary, told me it actually depends upon the seminary you go to.  This didn’t make sense to me.

And one seminary nearby, is the Dallas Theological Seminary, is known for its dispensationalism teaching.

And that has been a teaching I’ve understood and subscribed to — until this week. It was Dr. David Twellman, director of Institute of Pastoral Theology, said to Marcus Grodi, on Journey Home, “There is no rapture!” He said, referring to the whole truth with as much as four senses of interpreting scripture–not literal alone.

Something I am looking forward to see more of . . . “As far as the millennium goes, we tend to agree with Augustine and, derivatively, with the amillennialists. The Catholic position has thus historically been “amillennial” (as has been the majority Christian position in general, including that of the Protestant Reformers), though Catholics do not typically use this term. The Church has rejected the premillennial position, sometimes called “millenarianism” (see the Catechism of the Catholic Church 676). In the 1940s the Holy Office judged that premillennialism “cannot safely be taught,” though the Church has not dogmatically defined this issue.” (Catholic.com)

Then, the same day, I heard in my heart to google how and why one ‘crosses’ oneself. This was eye opening! Many Protestant denominations cross themselves. The eight step procedure is simple and authoritative, in Latin, ‘Signum crucis’.

Crossing oneself with the sign of the cross is appropriate for proclamations of the Gospel, and invoking the Trinity before and after prayer; which means, “I will always be obedient to God’s law and Christ’s teaching.” (Wikipedia link)

Lastly, I need to refer to how to do theology with respect to the church: Here is the video clip that is powerfully telling of the miracles that helped bring Cardnal Newman into sainthood. Heart Speaks to Heart from Heaven – a very well produced video.

I am still impressed by such remarkably profound commentary concerning holy religious living. “To be perfect is to change often.” (Cardnal Newman) Well, I can see more change coming for me and Viv and for our families and friends.

Today, for my nap I tuned into the music stream of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and I heard the most beautiful Gregorian chant that brought me to tears. “O Nata Lux de Lumine” (O Light born of Light). I believe the church is waking up to glory! This is a beautiful prayer!

“O Light born of light, Jesus redeemer of the world, with loving-kindness deign to receive, suppliant  praise and prayer. You Who once deigned to be clothed in flesh for the sake of the lost; grant us to be made members of your blessed body.” (www1.cpdl.org)

“True religion has two sides, the beautiful and the severe.” (from the video link, Heart Speaks)

Heaven is the destiny of the church, of Jesus Chist’s followers: A beautiful place, The promised land. But for now, we can get closer to heaven by thinking beyond the walls of church buildings . . . every baptized believer belongs to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Think beyond denominational lines–consider the possibility of agreeing with all four senses of biblical interpretation (not just one) according to sacremental reality and issues of obedience to authority. (Institute of Pastoral Theology, Dr. David Twellman)

The severe part of our religion is here and coming represents the pruning of the unfruitful church teaching: Try to keep the faith! Trust our loving Redeemer to save you and your family. This is the Year of Mercy for the apostolic church.

And here is where I started. If you highly regard our Christian Faith, and agree your daughters really need to share it, give the gift of Therese in the nun’s habit, that comes with the book, The Story of a Soul and “Her Little Way” (Go to DollsfromHeaven.com )

May God bless every reader here today and forevermore, (thank you for your prayers) amen.

THE BIG PICTURE: The unholy tradition of Christmas

THE BIG PICTURE: The unholy tradition of Christmas

(Sinterclaas or Saint Nicholas, considered by many to be the original Santa, 2007, Nederlands, by Gaby Kooiman, Wikipedia)

The present confusion of the Middle East is the enemy at work increasing it. There are imbalances: No one knows the truth. Dark forces are unleashed. Even our own lives and our security is threatened for us here at home — and Christmas is included!

“God has the power to walk on what we are about to drown in! Each test of God puts us through — what we have learned is present to be used — deductively — so that what we have been through, God provides for us to use for where we are going!”

[That was Bishop Jakes from tonight’s The Potter’s Touch television broadcast on TBN.]

Here is today’s study: The History of Christmas by Rabbi Lawrence Kelemen taken from his simpletoremember.com website which is linked here to confirm what I will be reporting. We can learn from such history in the world and confirm it even further.

Truly, let me remind you of the ugly roots of Christmas traditions formed by worldly powers: The date of Jesus’ birth. The origins of the Christmas tree; Mistletoe, Presents, Santa Clause, and the Christmas challenge:

“All modern incarnations of the most depraved pagan rituals ever practiced on earth.” Rabbi Kelemen said.

(Map of countries where Christmas is not a formal public holiday either on December 24/25 or on January 6/7. Wikipedia)

Today, I was notified that I am having an anniversary with WordPress.com; publishing my blog-posts now for four years. I have lost track of the time! Over all that time, I have written three stories (novels), that make up Levonah’s adventures with Yeshua (Jesus).

Also for the past two years, the blog posts of theology401 were completed. Now, we, Beloved Holy Spirit and I, are putting together this ‘Promised Soil’ edition. (I am only qualified to attempt this by his leading and my trusting that I hear his directions.)

It was Fr. Robert Spitzer who said in his series of Virtue, Freedom and Faith: How we are going to prevent sin-traps. 1) Faith, trust in the Lord, release the power of virtue; 2) Love others, such love leads to empathy to want to be virtuously loving others; and 3) Love of virtue: Resist the darkness.

“The solution is to be humble-hearted, which corresponds with Jesus’ #1 beatitude. Empathy, love of God (first) and his kingdom; rejoicing with others — animated by God’s Love. When you start loving God combating pride by humble-heart is how we stay in victory.”

“Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself; but it’s thinking of yourself less.” Father Spitzer said. (This article includes a chart showing the seven deadly sins.)

If you have read my last four posts, (The mystery of godly devotion; Contemplating the Messiah’s face; The healing of Christmas; and The Immaculate Conception), you know that there is a real enemy that is hiding in the hidden realm of spiritual wickedness. That he has a brain, and can keep us hampered with his fiery trials.

Honestly, I am personally concerned for our readers. Because I am not a Catholic, doesn’t mean I am kept from the truth about God and godly things. Our study of theology has opened my eyes to teaching my own non-denominational church cannot provide.

Every morning in my personal devotional, I pray to see the big picture. What is behind the current events. What is the truth we cannot see for some reason. I have learned God can reveal such things to us. This holiday is the point in question.

(A Typical Neapolitan nativity scene in Naples Italy, local crèches are renowned for their ornate decorations and symbolic figurines often mirroring daily life. By Juan Quintas, 2008, Wikipedia.)

Avoid the dangers of Christmas’ worldly traditions. According to the world (Cosmos), where the enemy resides because he is the “Prince of the power of the air” (Eph.2:2) Biblically, our lives are subject to his curse unless we have the True God in our life.

A good example is made with our own family this past year. (I gladly risk being chastised for telling this, but if it can help one person see the light through the darkness, it is a risk worth taking.) We lost our second son this year. He had lymphoma cancer.

We brought him up along with an older brother and a younger sister. We did the best to bring them all up in the admonition of the Lord Jesus (Yeshua) Christ (Messiah) in a Charismatic fellowship and school. He went on to earn his bachelors in computer science engineering, and later earned another in teaching math.

He taught high school math locally, for one year, and dropped it to return to the company he had partnered to develop locally. Then his marriage fell apart. He divorced, sharing custody of two lovely children. Then cancer attacked.

He told his mother and me that the math students could not even try to catch his gift for teaching. This told him, God was not leading him to do that. He said he didn’t love his hard-working wife, and asked her to leave. This told us how he failed to join the local Baptist church where his talented wife played in the orchestra and daughter sang in the children’s choir. And lastly, his work, his company, put him on the front line of research and development to help create software and hardware in cutting-edge, brain-waves technology.

The stress, anxiety, and fear he must have suffered put him as a prime candidate for cancer, and it hit him hard. We were kept away from him. He wanted to do this on his own. He committed several deadly sins. He was a good man, but not smart enough to defeat the enemy. The enemy wants to attack any good man, especially when he ignores the family’s example to seek godly help. Instead he chose the false god of healing, the mythical god of medicine and healing named Asclepius. And he’s gone to heaven.

Our son died precisely on the midnight marking the beginning of his 46th birthday. This was remarkable to all family members. We all asked why God? And we have been given the knowledge of the wisdom of following Him, and following closely.

We can decide and commit to our church fellowship; learn the truth, and apply it religiously to our lives; and pray for mercy and that God become our hedge of protection with angels encamped around about us. This is our only hope.

Proverbs 26:2, “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.”

Can we good people get this message? If there is error in actually observing this holiday in an unholy, sentimental, and misguided way — we stand to be cursed. I didn’t say this, the Bible says this. The Bible is true, the last post made that clear.

Please learn the above linked material of the origins of Christmas! It tells how philosophy has taken mythology and incorporated it into human social tradition. It is a lie! I can’t help saying it. That is the bottom line.

(Stamps released in the United States in 1982, a painting by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Wikipedia)

How many stamps do you need to tell us you get the message? Keep Christmas pure! Go to your church fellowship. Convince yourself and others that God is very important to you. The birth of His Son may not have happened as tradition says it did, but we know it happened. And let the biblical record become a matter of your survival boat in these dark and trying times.

“The fear of the Lord is beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7

“Do not be wise in your own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.” Proverbs 3:7,8

“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance, and the evil way, and the perverse mouth I hate.” Proverbs 8:13

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.” Proverbs 14:27

“The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.” Proverbs 15:33 [NKJV]

THE HOLY MOTHER OF CHRISTMAS: The Immaculate Conception

THE HOLY MOTHER OF CHRISTMAS – The Immaculate Conception

Today, is Tuesday, which I understand is God’s most favored days – because he called his creations on the third day of the week – good not once but twice. This is why Jewish weddings are performed on Tuesdays.

But today is also the Catholic Church’s Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Which I have always believed ignorantly that that referred directly to Yeshua-Jesus’ conception. But, watching all the pomp and ceremony in Rome (EWTN) today, I learned otherwise.

The conception of Yeshua-Jesus’ mother, Miryam (Mary), with the normal process of her parents – happened through supernatural dedication, God orchestrated her ‘special conception’ to keep her from the ‘stain’ of sin upon her human soul. (Source: Catholic Encyclopedia)

Have you heard of this? (Most of my facebook followers are Evangelicals) I can accept such a doctrine because of a former post that explained Jewish Mysticism (Kabbalah) as mixed with occultism . . . also something of a revelation. Tonight I am writing to you because of reading the above encyclopedia link.

I have always been critical of the teaching of Mariology. But daily watching EWTN, I admit to hearing of miracles and visions of the Holy Mother of Christmas. Even if you have never heard this before. Today is the day you need to hear this.

Ephesians 1:3-6,11,12, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. . .

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.”

Now this is another seemingly impossible development, but today the Roman Catholic Church teaches that Yeshua-Jesus’ mother went to heaven without death. So she was ‘assumed’ by our Father, and that means she had no grave and no bones were ever recorded as being found. She was one special holy lady.

How do you process this? The above link is a trusted source and explains basic Mariology. But there are many other sources. Theologically this is explained not wholly by Scripture, but by the ‘tradition’ of the Church Fathers.

I have to apologize to all my friends and family (friends are more accepting than family who know me up close and personally). I am not a perfect man. I have been given grace to study theology for about 2 years, writing 60 blogs. That alone has extended my knowledge and Christian vision, beyond what I hear at church.

Knowledge of theology is ‘faith seeking understanding’ about the truth. The process of theology enables understanding of how the Scriptures came to be, as they are God’s message to his Creation: Why we should believe the Bible is Inerrant.

“Since God is the Author and Finisher of its content, if we have questions about what it says, we have to go into a study of the process of all the native languages of the books. It took 1500 years to put together. During that time, as you might prove from the original language texts; God gradually revealed himself.

So you knew what to include; what to throw out: Every book could be compared to the other, and then tested. So if God authors a book, and He is always the same, there will be a consistency from one book He authorizes to the next.

It is a lie that any group of men decide what is or is not Canon. God decides. Only God is perfect.

“‘Scholars’ often forget and mistake how the Holy Spirit can impower anyone He wants to write divine writ. So we verify everything with Him. The real God really knows His word and can prove it to you. All you need is to be positive in His system.

(It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen.) And now that you are delivered (saved), you can go to God directly. God never gives a book you cannot validate because then in effect He’d be lying — You cant demand to test something, then deny what you need for testing.” (www.brainout.net/EnochTest)

It is already time to print this. There is more to study, but the above link may answer most of your questions. I am thankful for this holy season, and want nothing but peace and revelation to penetrate your hearts, now and forever. (Please let me know what you think.)

Merry Christmas,

Charles Bundschu

THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD – The healing of Christmas

Painting of Francois Boucher, ‘The Light of the World’, 1750, in Museum Beaux, Lyon, Paris, France, Wikipedia Commons

This year, we are hearing still how some in our community want to remove Yeshua-Jesus from our celebration of Christmas. I am learning how this can be true. It is the hidden power of the world, of the flesh, and sin that resists and rejects a most holy time for us. Even why terrorist attacks and unholy behavior happens and violence is called cultural extremism, but evil can’t be justified.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Our house got an early shot of the pageantry when the big house across the way had turned on its colorful lights, and as soon as twilight. We used to decorate, but found it more trouble and expense than we could be willing to keep up.

The specialness of Christmas-time is in the lights, yes, but the Spirit is undeniably more than visual perception. It is the seeming holiness of the time, the season, and the remembrance of the birth of the Messiah. Such an inspiring painting I have never seen before. Have you?

Yosef (Joseph), Miryam (Mary), Yeshua (Jesus), and the shepherd’s family (of course when the shepherds first came, they had to bring the families to see the spectacle). And the angels are there! A worthy find for an unusual post for all to learn something about this marvelous gift.

The glorious coming of the Messiah (Christ) child was the beginning of a ‘new thing’. The fulfillment of the prophecy, Isaiah and Jeremiah both mention it. (Is.43:19; Jer. 31:22) [Also see Fr. Robert J. Spitzer’s The Light shines on in the darkness]

The birth of our Sovereign Savior is so special it actually exceeds my ability to verbally express it. Basically, I am not as sanctified (holy) as I’d like to be; and I see the true Spirit of Christmas is lost in the unholy, material commercialism. Then just who can see Messiah’s (Christ’s) light?

I believe the Holy Bible tells us something of the light that shines on Christmas. Revelation 21:23,”The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light and the Lamb is its lamp.” (NIV)

Revelation 22:5, “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light.”

Isaiah 60:19-21, “The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end. Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever.”

Obviously these texts describe the sh’khinah glory of heaven. Although heaven is real, it does not visually exist on earth today. Why this is so the Holy Bible also explains. Let me share this key text for a more complete explanation: The force of darkness hides the light of heaven.

Our text: Isaiah 14:12-18 (NIV)

Seven verses with 19 notes referencing 49 more verses to represent a very thorough and accurate study about who the enemy is and what his forces can do. [note: Read the seven verses (in bold font), then their corresponding cross-references (in NKJV) to understand best. Interpretation of Holy Scripture is best found in Holy Scripture.]

Now we have a clearer view of the enemy. The devil, Satan, is real. His evil is attacking our human hearts and minds. Evil has a brain. Good men cannot outsmart evil. Why? He’s not smart enough. Still human logic can team up against him to defeat him. The church is key.

In his book, The Good Book, Reading the Bible with the Mind and Heart, Chaplain Peter J. Gomes writes about Good People and Bad Things. He makes reference to Rabbi Harold Kushner’s book, Why Good People Do Bad Things while telling some case histories himself.

“We do not know what good is, and as Pontius Pilate asked half sincerely, half sardonically of Jesus, “What is truth?”, we ask “What is good?”. . . The Bible is filled with vivid images of people caught between the knowledge of what is good, and what is evil, and the inability to avoid the easy wrong, and to affirm the difficult right.” He said.

“John Habgood says, ‘All knowledge is ambiguous.’ Such knowledge is both good and bad. The forbidden fruit tree was called, ‘knowledge of good and evil’.

“Ignorance is not why good people do bad things, and knowledge itself does not itself prevent good people from doing bad things. Good people do bad things because by themselves they are not able to manipulate their knowledge of what is good in behalf of goodness and over against what is bad.”

“We must face the fact that our knowledge and our will, even our good intentions are not sufficient to prevent the good from doing bad . . . This is a concession to the reality of evil. We have to acknowledge that the good are not in control, and are usually out-witted and out-smarted by the forces of evil that surround them on every hand. To say this plainly:”

1. Evil is real.

2. The good are not as smart as they think they are.

3. And, the good need all the help they can get; one cannot be good on one’s own.”

“Therefore, those who would be righteous, or hunger or thirst after it, are and always have been Satan’s prime targets. Notice that the first encounter Jesus had after his baptism is with Satan himself. . . Live seriously knowing this – with evil working overtime, our being virtuous is no hobby.”
Chaplain Gomes said. (used with permission)

Yeshua-Jesus teaches us that we are the light of the world. Why? Because we have the Truth. Seriously living what our bibles show us to hear, think, pray, and do; we should know enough to obediently resist the enemy, with our family church, and suffer through to our victory. God will do the rest. Trust him.

Daniel 2:34 The eternal kingdom of God, the Messianic kingdom, will extend over all the earth, and those who reject Jesus, the Messiah, the Stone, will be crushed. Ground zero – a heavenly memorial

Our National September-eleven Memorial & Museum (Wikipedia)

For believers in U.S.A., ground zero will always be found at the cross. But that is not the original source of life as human beings. When every baby is born, and they open their eyes for the first time and see their father, their heavenly Father is there looking back at him through his father’s eyes.  He wanted to see how we turned out. Then our God rejoiced and gave approval, inspecting his creation, ‘and behold, it was good.’ Every child gets inspected as every one is different, an original — every single one of them.

The central human unit is the family. In the world, the fall of parents into sin still threatens to destroy our Creators’s design. But what our Lord and Master Yeshua-Jesus can enable mankind to receive power after the Messianic (Christian) following to combat this, spiritually.

Being taken to even the image of a more recent ground zero, we are brought into history’s handicap of always repeating itself. But we are also given a renewed strength to carry on and become open to the Lord’s admonition, to love one another, as he loved us, and by this the world will know we are true. (John 13:34,35)

Hense, our thesis. How is the world missing the point here? It is a theme worthy of 75 pages. Yes!

(more to come)
